The middle two sections are interviews with nine top traders and trading psychology experts, each describing his or her own view on how they develop and utilize intuition and related skills in trading. An excellent reading list is included at the end. I found the interview with Charles Faulkner most interesting as it contained material not found in other published interviews with this master NLP practitioner and trainer.The jacket summary overstates one aspect of the book with the statement "...extensive exercises that will how you how to enhance your trading performance." There is indeed a lot of information, detailed examples, lists and the like that one might use to enhance one's intuition, but I do not see "exercises" in the form of a workbook, so take heed to set your expectations accordingly. On another note, the range of trader styles represented in the interviews is a bit too narrow in my opinion; most are floor traders. I might prefer a broader mix of perspectives."The Intuitive Trader" by Robert Koppel is a significant contribution to the trading literature. Five stars.

This book consists largely of interviews with quacks and floor traders who are not really taking big directional bets. It has limited insights and pales in comparison to Market Wizards, Soros on Soros, or even some history of money management like Fortune's Formula. Not worth the time at all.

This is from far one of the best trading books highlighting the psychological side of trading. Many thanks to Mr. Koppel for this great great book!

Koppel's book, "The Intuitive Trader" provides excellent insights into the ways to combine left-brain (logical) and right brain (intuitive) skills to gain the competitive advantage. Koppel interviews established masters and shows how each of them rely on both the left and right sides of the brain. An excellent book for anyone in the world of professional investing.

Mark Douglas's "The Disciplined Trader" is, quite frankly, inexhaustible in explaining the many facets of the psychology of trading, and much better than Koppel's many attempts at the subject.

I was asked to teach a class on prophecy, so I bought several books to help with my studies. As I read, I realized that discernment was also a very important topic, so I bought some books on discernment.This was a well written book that provided other perspectives to assist me with teaching. The author knows the subject and did a fine job of imparting the knowledge and experiences of his life path.

His insights and suggested approaches are excellent. I have been a lay minister for nearly 60 years and wish I had read this in my early years. So, why only three stars? Too much "I", "my", etc. that takes away from his core message. It is obvious he has been a wonderful minister but let his book bear that testimony, he doesn't need to. If this does not bother you please get the book, you will gain great insight.

This book provides depth for the hungry believer. I love the personal examples from the authors life and the activation prayers at the end of each chapter. Practical and biblical!

An amazing book writen by a photographer and journalist who was sent to the Klondike and then, apparently not actually mining, tells us about the gold rush.I have made the de rigueur Alaska cruise and had the chance to go over the pass at Skagway.What men! And a pretty peaceable lot at that,They mined for gold by hand. The book describes staking a claim, digging, panning, sluicing and extracting gold with mercury. I have always wanted to know what a gold miner back in the day really did. The book details it plus the towns and buildings, life in the Yukom and Klondike at the 19th C close.. Starvation was early on in everyone's mind....could supplies get through? The travel down the rivers, ice crushing boats, swift rapids; it is all there.True adventure

This was a very good book for me from the stand point that my Great Great Grandfather was there and I knew virtually nothing of what went on during the rush. It was very informative about the preparations to go to the Yukon and what the ordeal was like. The author was a newspaper reporter and writes a very good description of life on the Yukon. His detail of the crossing from Skagway, over the mountain passes and the river voyages down to Dawson are very informative. When he arrives at Dawson, he gives a very good description of Dawson and the surrounding areas. Very thorough details on how mining was done and how gold was discovered in the area. Over all, it was very interesting book and it gave me more personal insight on what my G-G- Grandfather experienced.

 Tappan Adney was a writer, journalist, photographer and an artist. He has given a wonderful first hand chronicle of the Klondike Gold Rush. His observations are from a true professional journalist's point of view under contract with Harper's Weekly in the early 20th Century. It would have been nice to include his photographs or drawings of his observations in this edition. In contrast readers may be interested in reading HAZELET'S JOURNAL by George Cheever Hazelet as a more personal first person story. Plus it has a ton of photographs, illustrations and maps. Hazelet took a different route into the gold fields over Alaska's Valdez Glacier in 1898. His story was written for his family and close circle of friends if he did not survive. As a result, readers may find HAZELET'S JOURNAL more poignant. Although THE KLONDIKE STAMPEDE by Tappan Adney is a very powerful documentation of a period in the history of North America that got much notoriety at the time, but was generally miss understood or lost to what would be described today as "fake news." Abney was hired to bring the truth to Harper's Weekly readers.

Written by a newspaper man sent to the Klondike to tell the folks back home what it was like. Some parts are good and informative, but too many names and expressions are thrown in with out explanation. You need a map of the area to understand much of it. It was hard to believe the author was a professional writer.

I haven't read much about the gold rush in California so I thought this might be an interesting read. It was just o.k. I was expecting more personal stories. There were a few interesting tidbits but most of the book was about the trip instead of the experience. I found myself skipping over sections. I'm glad I read it but I was hoping for more.

A very detailed look at the Klondike gold rush era from the perspective of an "embedded" journalist. Most of the book is chronologically organized as the events unfolded, other parts are more thematic such as the gold gathering techniques. It badly needed an ending to wrap up the experience and I wish that there had been an epilogue of what the journalists life returning to civilization and his follow up work. One does get a very different perspective on that era and events than from other novels or movies.

An excellent and incisive accountof a fascinating bit of history.Afterhaving visited the pass and ScagwayI wanted to know more about the historyof the Klondike Gold Rush. A well written,factual account of endurance,suffering,struggle,winningand loss by superhuman men and women.One is hard pressed to imaginethe hardships so well enumerated in thisbook that these brave souls had to endure.I was sad when the book ended.

It isn't a totally self-help book because the authors recognize that some issues are too complex and deep for one to self-treat. The knowledge in this book transcends time, written in the 1980's (published in 1989, when I was 10 yrs. old) but it proves that peoples' life issues and habits don't change unless they actively work to change them. I recommend this book to every person I know that is struggling with life issues, tormented, unhealthy and broken relationships.Thanks to this book my life makes more sense and I am learning how to build strong healthy relationships, but most importantly it is helping me repairing my marriage.

I had high hopes due to high reviews, but I was very unhappy to find that only a small section of the book is actually about plants! You would think with a name like "Poolscaping" that the book would have had more to do about plants and landscaping around the pool. The book is instead divided in chapters about how to build a pool and many pictures on waterfalls and spa's. Very generic as a whole.

I was a little disapointed when I first got this book as the photos weren't all eye-popping fancy layouts - BUT - - I have found the book surprisingly good to read!! I've been up late every night pouring over it's content. It's written very, very well and you will learn some great hints, regardless of budget. I am so pleased I decided to write a review (which I've never done). I hope the authors continue to write on this suject! It's a GREAT BOOK! Thank you!

This book is a must have! It is beautifully illustrated and very informative. If you own a pool or are thinking about getting one this book is a great investment. It covers everything from choosing a design for your pool to plants and lighting. The pictures are spectacular! I Preordered this book and I'm glad I did. It was worth the wait.

EXCELENT BOOK

Based on the description, I believed this book would be full of design ideas and photos of well-landscaped pools. It isn't. If you are looking (as I was) for examples to show a landscaper (or to do it yourself), you should look elsewhere.

The writer starts out with "Swimming pools have come a long way from the turquoise water holes surrounded by stark paving. Increasingly pools are being integrated into the design of the house and garden..."I'm happy to see a book on this topic, especially one written by an accomplished writer and photographer. Many garden swimming pools stand out like a sore thumb - a harsh rectangle of Hollywood blue water with cold tile edges. They're lovely and cool in hot weather, but UGLY. Anything that helps to change or disguise this is all good.The writer has many suggestions for doing just this. She addresses in depth topics such as decking, enclosures, structures, furniture and plantings. She has researched and offers suggestions for problems such as awkward rocky sites and the need to have an enclosure around the pool that doesn't block the view or make the place look like a prison.It was good to see a generous number of pages given to plants and plantings - everything from container planting to landscaping the entire site. The writer also focuses on planning ahead when installing a pool or landscaping around it, and on matters relating to the budget. Both are very important and often overlooked..The writer obviously has an encyclopedic knowledge of her topic and her writing is crisp and to-the-point. She understands the issues facing people who want to integrate their pool into their garden and addresses them directly. Her photographs illustrate her points with relevance and clarity. I'd recommend this book to anyone trying to add some style and class to a garden with a swimming pool.

I already owned Everyday Fashions of the Thirties as well as the Forties and was DYING to purchase this one. I was not disappointed. It's a fascinating look at some of the fashions that are offered back in the 1950s. It's all black and white, copied from actual Sears catalogs. Great for people who are into period clothing, fashion designers or people who love the 1950s and like to see what the style was. I use it for inspiration for my accessories line as well as making clothing for myself.

I ordered 3 of these, too, (in addition to the 3 I ordered of the Everyday Fashions of the Forties) for gifts at a 70th birthday party.I love this catalog just as much as I loved the 'forties' catalog. There were some changes in fashions from the 1940s to the 1950s, and it is tons of fun to look at them. The pages are reproduced clearly, and I love the variety of styles shown: children, youth, adults, etc. I remember these styles, too, just like I remembered the 1940s fashions.

This thin but satisfying volume is crammed with black-and-white photographs of 1950s clothing of almost every type (no high fashion -- this is department store clothing). There is an obvious effort to represent as many types of clothes as possible and focus on representative fashions of each year, from the 40s-ish fashion of 1950 to the beginnings of mod in 1958. Many of the garments are accompanied by catalog text, which provides a surprising amount of detail on the construction of the garment -- great for anyone looking to recreate similar styles. I suppose many of the prospective clients were home seamstresses and knew the vocabulary, and perhaps expected to be told by the store what type of fastening, seaming, or back vent a garment had. There is also a lot of information about fabric, as the catalogs tended to brag about whatever horrible synthetic fabric was considered advanced that year. My favorite item in the book may be the anachronistic "push up bra" from 1957, described as providing "above-the-bra loveliness."This book can't compete with thicker compilations that provide color photographs, and it may not contain enough of whatever your particular interest is (there aren't many undergarments, for instance). But it's a good source for information and inspiration for retro fans, and well worth the relatively low price.

Love these books for art projects and just fun to see how fashion has changed. My book was shipped in the same box with my other purchase which was a liquid fabric wash. The lid was loose so the cover of the book has some damage and a sticky residue. Luckily it did not damage the inside of the book. Would have been better if they either shipped separately or sealed the liquid with plastic before shipping.

I was born in early 1953 so many of the fashions still mean something to me. I have to admit that I'm still drawn to the femininity of the period but I have my dreams and you have yours and we'll leave it at that. This is a good book for the money. Not too detailed, the reproductions can get a little bit fuzzy and there is no color; but this what you get for $15 these days. If you like what you see here, there are other resources to persue. It's a pretty good starting point.

...however, I found this other book "Fashionable Clothing from the Sears Catalogs: Late 1950s" to be more helpful as there were more images despite the narrower span of time. Also the images are in color in the book I mentioned.

The content of the book is great. However, if you are considering buying the kindle version of the book - simply forget it. The kindle version of the book appears to be a blunt scan of the analog book. You cannot bookmark pages, there is no table of contents. The text appears JPEG-broken after scans were coded for optimal size of files.. Terrible!

Very cool book. Printed with semi-transparent overlay pages. Super informative. If you want to be a designer, get it.

The organization of the book seems a bit disjointed to me. I would have also liked to have seen a lot of the examples use actual type rather than block diagrams.The overlays are helpful, more discussion about them would make them even more useful. I want to like the book, but am not quite there. If I had to describe the book in one word it would be sterile.

Professor recommended this book as supplementary reading for the course. Turned out to be a great reference and really helped me understand the complexity in some grids, especially with the opaque pages with grid overlay.

This was required reading in my layout class and it's really nice to have examples, visuals, and exercises to strengthen your layout skills.

I agree with some of the other reviews that the characters were undeveloped and boring. I was, overall, very disappointed and bought the book based on the great reviews. I could have done without some of the cheesy romantic language such as “her ovaries responded with yum”. I also felt the plot was predictable and moved at a snail’s pace. It took me a month to finish this book and I could never really get into it. I probably won’t read anything else by this author.

This is meant to be a "romantic mystery" or "romantic suspense" and IMO it fails at it all.It was insanely boring from the start, as well as disjointed. The first scene (let's count how many times we've seen this): a woman escaping in the dark, blahblah, with thoughts such as "This is the end," and lots of one line paragraphs ... Sigh.Of course she is caught, switch to chapter 2 and POV of the killer -- who, on chapter 1, was just following her, calling her name like this: Tesssssssssssa! and punching her in the jaw, is now a mess of guilt: what have I done, what have I done?So bad, very bad set up of the psychology. Is this a cold-blooded psycho or a man who "loses it" and is sorry?Then the set up of the MCs -- Morgan has three kids. Lost her soldier husband, lives with Grandpa, trying to get back to her job but is insecure. Please, wake me up when this gets more exciting. Zzzzzzzzz-zzzzzzzzzz.Lance is en ex-cop and has an injury and a trauma. Now he is a PI so we get a perfunctory scene of "Lance" doing PI work and stopping a woman from shooting her husband; Lance thinking of Morgan who was his high school (or something) GF and the usual thinking of her sweet body and how he can't keep his head around her. Ay, ay, ay.Then Tessa is dead and they think it was Nick the neighbor's kid. Morgan gets involved and gets Lance involved. They think a lot about each other as Morgan's daughters eat pancakes.Then there is an unexciting mystery investigation, with the POV of the killer and his twitching curtain; his psychology is no better and the thousand one-sentence paragraphs by this time are getting incredibly annoying. Pearls of human insight such as "But love has its dark side. Jealousy. Possession."Really?The resolution is the stuff of one of the lesser crime shows on TV with a hostage situation and a lot of exposition by a dying man literally grabbing the MC by the shirtfront to spew out paragraphs of the truth. There is meant to be a twist, but there isn't one, not really.We get the usual, "Oh, maybe we have too much emotional baggage" from the MCs at the end, but with the conclusion "But she fits so nicely against me." -- so that we know there will be some storms ahead for them, which I doubt will lift the romance above the soporific, yet is meant to keep us reading the next and next.If you add unexciting romance (AND I AM NOT THE ALPHA MALE/ SMUT TYPE OF READER) to loads of family everyday description to a mystery that isn't really mysterious to very simple writing with irritating quirks and repetitions to all possible clichés to (and to me most unforgivable in a crime story) bad insight into human psychology ... well, one wonders HOW this book has been a best-seller in mystery and romantic mystery/suspense for so long.

I just now finished "Say You're Sorry." This book kept me awake as I couldn't put it down.Just wanted to tell someone, anyone, what a good book. So well writtenI'll write a review (or try to). The book was so good I'm not sure I'll do it justice...but I'll try. I fell in love with the characters...and wonder of wonders I didn't figure out who the culprit was until the author wanted me to. Most of the time I can figure it out but not this time. There was never a dull moment.I wish I didn't have to wait until September for "Her Last Goodbye" to see what Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger have to deal with.

I listen to audiobook mysteries during my commute and while I do housework. I am really picky about narrators and this one was great. I also enjoyed the story - nothing too complicated or even particularly original, just good fun. I love the relationship between the two leading characters and the whodunnit mystery did keep me guessing until the end. Would make a perfect summer beach read.

The mystery is solid but Im beginning to loathe these crime novels that seem to spend as much time on the romance aspect as the actual mystery. We get it. The protagonist is a hot woman so therefore she needs a dude to salivate over her in order to be compelling. Except not. If you like your crime novels with a heaping side of goopy romantic stares and thin reflections on hot men and women, this is the book for you.

I should have known better. If you are into suspense thriller types reads this is not the one for you. Just another poorly written shlocky "romantic thriller, don't waste your money."
