This was another awesome book! The Baby Professor books are great tool when wanting to have your young readers start learning new subjects.These are great quick reads that are visually stimulating as well as fun to read. These are meant to be reference tools not whole subject books. Each of the books tend to be about 18 pages long, just enough to intrigue growing minds. I nanny two young children and I'm always trying to keep them busy with new things to do. I really like that I can download these books onto my tablet with the amazon kindle app and have access to them whenever I want. It makes it a lot easier than carrying around a whole bunch of books and cleanup is amazing! I like to have these available when we are running errands and the kids are bored. They are just enough information that allows the kids to learn something in a short period but even makes them excited to learn more about the subjects. " Volcanoes: Why do they happen" is an interesting book that describes volcanoes, how they are formed, and why and how they erupt.This is perfect for young little readers, both boy and girls, who like learning new things. I did receive the book at a discount or for free for my unbiased review. My opinions and feelings about the product are 100% my own and haven't been swayed in anyway. This book is fairly short and that works well for younger children with a short attention span. I would say this book is best for the 4-6 year old range. As with all the Baby Professor series the pictures are stunning. Adults and children alike will enjoy learning new facts. Even as an adult I enjoyed the book and wish it was longer.It is a great little book that is delivered in bite size pieces for young children to understand and enjoy. Each page features a fact and a pertinent picture. These are a great starting point for a deeper conversation that you can tailor to their age and curiosity. I recommend reading the Kindle version on a computer or color tablet to get the full effect of the color pictures.I received the opportunity to review many of the Baby Professor books and I highly recommend them. I love the idea of electronic books. You can download a whole bunch of different books for the kids to read. Kids will love to read them over and over again and enjoy the pictures. I love that they are learning based and not just silly little stories with no meaning. This is a good supplemental resource for my lessons on land forms and natural disasters that occur on land forms.My students are obsessed with Volcanoes. We spent an entire month learning about land forms, how new islands form and the ring of fire. The stuednts just can't get enough of volcanic eruptions . Volcanoes- Why Do They Happen?, is packed full of great information. I enjoyed reading through this book and learning things about volcanoes that I never knew. This book is great for young elementary school aged children and middle aged children. My 2 year old even enjoyed having me read it to him. The pictures used on each page are great. They contain great detail and are of good quality. This book explains the difference between an active, dormant and extinct volcano. It also explains how volcanoes are formed. As well as how they grow by intrusion and extrusion, giving a definition with each scenerio. Then goes onto to explain what causes a volcano to erupt and lists the gases that become trapped that cause the eruption. I like that this book is so informative and isn't boring so you do want to finish it. The only problems I found while reading this book were; the grammatical errors, punctuation, capitalization and run on sentences. It appears if this book was never proofread before being released for readers.Disclaimer: I received this book absolutely free for my unbiased review and opinion.

It may have been my own misconception about the book, but I was anticipating a different mix of showcase + information. This is 95% simply a gallery of typographic work. The work is all very pretty, and there are some progress images, but I was hoping for a little more about lettering itself. Not a step-by-step guide, but simply more global explanation of lettering interspersed with the images. For instance, the wonderful Jessica Hische has an insightful little interview and mentions the differences between calligraphy, typefaces and lettering, but we are never given those definitions or examples of what makes them different. This kind of information would have added depth to the book.For a gallery of typographic work, it's very nicely put together. Was hoping for a little more information about typography and hand-lettering overall tho. Once attentively looked thru, there's little reason to revisit these pages.

Great examples of artfully crafted letterforms, visually captivating and very inspiring. Beautiful resource for all typography lovers...

The recipes in this book are very helpful. I like that it identifies the paint colors used in each technique so I could try the same thing. I also love how it lists the order in which the items are placed in the paint cup. It’s simple to follow, a quick read book. I like the empty journal pages at the end. Worth every penny. Highly recommend to others.

I am not usually a detail oriented person. There ARE times, however, when I need details. Thank you Rick for the details on different methods for this beautiful art! The order of paints in the pour, the different additives to try, suggestions and reminders- all the information you give us is rock solid! Get this book and start creating!!

Really a very good book for beginners. Recipes are very good and comes with the amounts. I wish he would have put the size of canvas on, or did I miss something..it's still worth five stars. Come on Rick, release the next one. Get into string pulling more, flower making, straw blowing and transfer a picture and then finish with a pour. Thank you, Kae

I love the clear descriptions of the various techniques and I love all of the recipes! Rick gives us detailed recipes for all kinds of different paints! Luckily I have some of the different paints on hand, and now I have a list of new ones to purchase!

Ricks work is AMAZING! Couple great things about this book. Its full of detailed recipes, which includes: additives, pouring medium, style of pour and all color proportions. A high quality photo is available to show how the recipe came out. Amazing!

The thing I like best about this is the recipes for colors and techniques. Although you can never recreate a pour precisely, this book gives you an excellent basis for exploring various pouring mediums, both commercially made and hand mixed, and uses a wide variety of pigments. You will get good results and learn how to concoct your own adventures. Pretty soon you can do your own YouTube channel for pouring!

Having these recipes has improved my acrylic pouring so much! I love Rick's mixture and his techniques and learned so much with this book and also his class. Looking forward to learning more about pouring! Thank's Rick!

Read the description carefully--this is a very small book. Its size and thick binding make it difficult to keep it open, so my 4-year-old has a lot of trouble actually using it. The size also means he has to be very careful about drawing the lines because the dots are close together. That's not a huge deal because it helps his dexterity, but it frustrates him and he doesn't really like this book. I keep it in my purse and tear pages out for him to do while in a restaurant and places like that.

these are very petite books that have simple dot-to-dots in them. They are numbers up to 20-30 and the pictures are easily recognized by small children. These are fantastic for the 3-4 year old set, especially if they are just learning their numbers. The only downfall is that some numbers are placed so close together that you are not sure which dot goes with which number (however with these being such small pictures and the dots being so close, it does not effect the overall picture that much.) I keep several of these little Dover books in my purse for fast entertainment at Dr. Appointments and such.

My 7 year old loved this! It's pocket sized and chock full of pages so when she has to go somewhere or ride in the car a long time I pack up her booksac and I include this as well. She loves it and she can also color the pictures after completing the dot to dot. I like that it's small bc that saves space, which is something I'm always looking for! It's simple yet engaging, perfect for young children! Loved it!

Arrived today. My fault for not reading the fine print...but size is small. Not a regular sized color/dot-to-dot book. The quality of what is there is fine. Just know ahead of time that it is small.

I purchased this book from Amazon on line. The book was smaller than I expected it to be. I woud recommend it for the kindergartener and older child as the print is small compared to the print normally used for the pre-schooler age child. I was impressed with the amount of animal illustrations shown in this book. I bought it with the older child in mind feeling that it was also of educational value. Audrey

I must not have read the description. This is a thin pocket sized book. I was expecting 8.5 x 11 or so.

The quality of the books is fine, however, and I must admit it's my own fault for not reading the description more carefully, the books are small 4" X 5 1/2 ish". I think it is more difficult for the little ones to write, especially the dot-to-dot books, on pages this small. I was expecting full sized books 8 X 11, so I was disappointed. I'm going to give them to my daughter for the grandchildren; will be a nice little surprise for them on a long car trip.

Great! Can't find old-fashioned dot-to-dot books in the store. This is exactly what I am looking for. Great product.
