this British import with laughter and ❤️ The writing is crisp and the story is real and I enjoyed it rather a lot. The main character was dealing with issues surrounding her relationship with her recently passed mother and unrequited love for a co-worker. She is working hard at personal and professional validation.Lily Bartlett has a jaunty writing style that was snarky in a good way. These seniors had gumption! The dialogue will have you laughing out loud as will their antics.There isn’t any violence or swearing to speak of but there is a small amount of bed hopping and kissing without any descriptive language. I’d rate this PG. All in all, a delightful time at the “Happy Home for Ladies &...?” 🧐

This book is filled with quirky and fun characters. The residents, women, are in for a surprise when the owner decided that he was going to rent the empty rooms to men. A lot of laughs, and a few serious parts. Overall a wonderful story.

I typically really enjoy Lilly Bartlett (who also writes as Michele Gorman) books and excitedly look forward to new books from them. However, this book didn't work for me. The biggest problem I had with the book was how whiny the main character Phoebe is.I'm glad the title was changed from The No So Perfect Plan to Save Friendship House as I didn't think that really fit the story.

My three stars are not a review; Amazon thinks I bought this book, but I looked all through my Kindle library, and it is nowhere to be found, nor do I recall ever seeing this title before. There must be a glitch, but be aware that the three stars indicates only that I have no opinion either way about this book.

I liked this story of friends who work in a retirement home for women. Then the owner wants men to move in and sexism on both sides shatter the happy place. Romance with one bedroom scene that is not explicit. Glad for that. Nice chic lit book.

Loved the eclectic group in this book!! Very descriptive tale of males invading a retirement home inhabited by widows and spinsters. The escapades plus feuding all true to life. Enjoyed the book.

I enjoyed this book and it was a bit different than i was expecting. I feel all of the characters were developed enough with the exception of Tamsyn. I am happy that the love interest panned out because i was really hoping it would. I only wish the ending hadn't felt rushed. And i really would've loved some finality with the relationship between Dot and Terence.

A Chinese Theology?I was slightly skeptical after reading only the beginning of Chow's introduction in which he sets out to apply a tripartite theological typology developed by two Western theologians to the Chinese context. Chow looks at the past 100 years or so of Chinese Christian history but concentrates on the so-called Second Chinese Enlightenment, a period I was interested in myself (which is why I read the book).Chow systematically goes through a number of China's most prominent theologians - or Christian leaders - and their theologies, finding a place for each one between three types that are simply named "A," "B," and "C." And this turned out to be one of the points I appreciated most about the choice of this particular system to introduce the wide array of Christian theological contemporary (or near contemporary) voices: Chow thus manages to an extent - and this, I think, is wonderful - to avoid the irritating practice of labeling plaguing our discussions about Christianity in its various expressions: fundamentalist, evangelical, liberal what have you.I personally found the book intellectually enriching and very informative. The concept of Theosis - Heaven and Humanity in Unity (well, there's a lot more to it if you read the book) for the Chinese Christian theological context is something I'll keep thinking about. An important read for contextual theologians and definitely also of much interest to anyone with an interest in Christianity in China.

I wanted to read this book really bad but then I realized how much it cost. Then I thought, hey, I can get it cheaper on kindle. But then I look at the kindle price and was like, dang this book costs too much. I'll probably never read it.
