Charles Stanley is my preacher even though I live in a different state. He is solid and steadfast. He hasn't changed with the times or gotten into politics. He speaks, I listen. When I purchased this book I had no idea who Lilly Singh was, I just knew she had super cool hair. As I read the book, I truly learned a ton, not only about who Lilly Singh is, but about YouTube - a social media outlet that I had never really used (but quickly realized I should). Ms. Singh’s conversational tone spoke to me.In a time when I am finding myself in more and more uncomfortable situations I take her advice to heart. For instance, as an author and inventor of a new baby product I have begun to get offers to do interviews with the media. I was even recently contacted by a casting director to be on a reality show.I typically don’t feel much like a bawse, so even the idea of speaking on camera freaks me out. I don’t even like to Skype or FaceTime with friends and family.As these appointments approached, I tried desperately to remember her advice about expanding out of your comfort zone. I struggled to show some sort of personality while interviewing for the reality show. I then studied her words prior to having my first media appearance on a news talk show. While I don’t think I succeeded in appearing as even a fraction of a bawse on either occasion, at least I tried. As tempted as I was to cancel both appointments, I showed up and did them. As Ms. Singh points out, the first ten times she does anything she is horrible at it. But those first ten times are crucial in order for her to be successful the eleventh time. I recognize that these are experiences that will help me to grow as a person. You must seek out situations that make you uncomfortable.Her book inspired me to start my own YouTube channel. Granted I can’t dance or sing (or perform in any way), but I can promote my books and products. I can also cook, so I’ve started my own weekly cooking “show”. It’s a start, anyway, and I can honestly say I was inspired by Lilly Singh.Now if you'll please excuse me - I must go buy some colorful towels.

Although I love Lilly Singh's vlog, movie, and lipstick, I was a little concerned that this book would be so filled with pop cultural references that the meat might get obscured. Happily not, and I should have known better! The book is interesting, fast-paced, and Lilly's tone comes through in every line. In addition, I love a woman who is not afraid to use semicolons correctly.

I haven't have finished this book yet, but it has already changed my life. I'm a 36 years young woman who found love with Lilly's positivity. I wanted to book because I'm looking forward to making big changes in my life and you the motivation. I have a 10 year old who was diagnosed with ADHD. We've been having issues with discipline and teaching him self-love. He read the first chapter because it was titled "Nintendo". This kid loves his video games. Because of her analogy, I was able to explain to my son that I was his Game Designer. When I set rules I am not the enemy. I am only making the rules to give him more skills and character. Now when we fight I remind him that I am not trying to hurt him I'm trying to grow him. Fights don't last long and he goes to bed reading "How to be a Bawse" every night! I think I'm going to have to order another book if I am going to read it.

I wasn't a fan of Lilly Singh at the time that I ordered and read this book. I can understand if some people are thrown off by the way the book reads, because it reads as if she is talking directly to the reader. To be honest, that method is very good and useful for books like this. Therefore after the first chapter I was fine and enjoyed how it read. I was pleased with the format. Within each chapter the reader will find a witty intro, very good sound advice, and wonderful examples in the form of her experiences. All of the chapters were put into sections that had a common purpose and each section ended with two pages labeled "Out of the Blue". These pages probably have the most strength to give because they compare her old life to her current, they seemingly bare the most impact. I believe this book is truly life changing if you let it be, and full of those aha! moments that we all have but forget in life. I encourage you to read it, so that you can add being a Bawse to your resume of life and to give yourself a chance to conquer it. Additional side effects are becoming curious about the author, watching her videos, and becoming a huge fan of what she stands for and her as a person.

This book has genuinely got me off my ass. She's honestly someone that has EARNED this recognition and her book speaks to the value of what she's earned. Speaking totally truthfully- the book is written in a tone that if you don't already know how she speaks. it takes a moment to get use to but this tone specifically speaks to the positivity of following your dreams, all the while kicking your ass into gear. It's my favorite book by far and 100% worth your money. I ordered copies for all my friends in the hopes of helping them to also be inspired to change their lives for the best.Ps I have both the hard cover and the audio book... try to order the hard cover because the quality of the book is genuinely amazing - beautiful photos, quality pages, vivid colors. Absolutely worth the shipping and handling price.Update: I’ve reread it multiple times and have gotten a job where I can build a career as well as taken numerous certifions to help people in lives. I first heard this book when the author read one of the stories during a National Public Radio interview. The stories were fun, children loved listening to them... especially the story about the coyote and the grass people (they make coyote fart)...Like most Native American stories they offer good stories that mean something to young, youth, and adult in different ways.I recommend this book. It is easy to read out loud if you are a storyteller, and just the right length to keep young childrens' attention.

Without violating the spirit of teaching serious lessons, this version makes Coyote and his animal companions funny on a comic book level. Coyote's inability to contain his mirth over a creature trying to save his life and paying the price, to his brother's immediate forgiveness and loving acceptance of Coyote's foolishness are funny in ways that early elementary kids see funny, or at least the way I remember it. The stories are made, like most Coyote stories, for reading aloud, but be forewarned: some sound effects may be required!

This book was one of my daughter's beloved books from childhood. It's meant to be read aloud. We made up a song to go with what the Grass People said to Coyote. They also play a trick on him, and it is fun to have a trick played on a trickster.Based on Native American story, this book has a lovely rhythm and sense of place. The stories are about Coyote, who is not always as clever as he thinks he is.Great fun

I am an avid fan of this tremendous artist. In 1990, I bought " The Great Gospel Women volumes. 1 and 2 " which highlighted the early superb work of Mahalia Jackson on Shanache Records. It was produced by Anthony Heilbut. I thought I would hear some dull, boring and uninspired singing. I was presently surprised. I heard music that captivated my ears and soul.Now for Mahalia Jackson... I thank Mr. Burford for opening the flood gates of her earlier career and the significance to the African American venacular in the early years of the 20th century. She embodies on two significant levels: First, God's continued promises for those who seek to be willing vessels in the service of the divine creative encounter and secondly, for creating a space in America for Black self expression in a religious/sacred context. Mahalia Jackson showed Black people and in particular (specifically Black women) that faith in self, faith in God and a determined spirit to live one's life on one's own terms can be achieved regardless of any hindrances that springs up in life such as sexism, racism etc...She opened up an unprecedented avenue and a creative path to express her faith about God that produced a new energizing spirit for marginalized people.Burford tells of Mahalia's early years from New Orleans to Chicago and the seeds that were firmly implanted in her that made her the premier Gospel Singer on wax!!!!I wish Mr. Burford would have had more space to talk about the early years of Gospel Music or the"Gospel Blues" movement that flooded into the northern city churches in Chicago. There was a belief of many Blacks (aka the talented tenth) in the thirties that if Black people took on the attributes and mores of the "majority society" they would be accepted as equals.The southern black person that began to migrate north did not think this way. They wanted to create "a space to be oneself" along with the economic freedom to have a space. With this conflict in ideology and socialogical thrust, the 1930s church setting viewed these opposing forces in the form of church service music performance of which Mahalia Jackson was a prime target. TA Dorsey, Theodore Frye, Magnolia Lewis Butts and Sallie Martin came together and cemented a creative compromise that produced Mahalia Jackson and many, many other great Gospel artists.What was produced was a fusion of Western Musicial idioms with the sacred passion of African American authentic expression that has yet to be surppassed even into the 21 century... (Think of Paverotti mixed with Bessie Smith).Mahalia Jackson came and enjoyed the following: national/international acclaim on Apollo Records, a national radio show, unheard of for a Black Woman which catapulted her to Columbia Records!!! The 2 books were delivered on time, but I was dissapointed that they were so dated. They were not mis-represented, I just neglected to pay attention to the details of the listing.

Excellent primer on subject.

I found this book to be a great resource for beginners who are new to Firefox, or an individual that wants to learn more about why they should immediately stop using IE and make the switch! 'Firefox Secrets' is well written with an easy style, not assuming that you are an experienced user, instead it takes the approach that you are new to the joys of using the best browser in the world. Mr. Yeow introduces the reader to the basics of obtaining Firefox, and then quickly goes into the #1 difference that makes Firefox fantastic - tabbed browsing. After explaining what tabbed browsing is and how it can be configured to fit your needs, Bookmarks are examined and then Themes are discussed.For anyone that is a little bit familiar with Firefox, a look at how to install and configure some of the best extensions on the web is a worthwhile venture, and finally the Author talks about tips/tricks and the available web development add-ins out on the web.I especially found the web development section to be the most handy. I was already familiar with the outstanding Web Developer extension and have used it for some time, but there were also links to an advanced Javascript debugger, along with other tweaks that the author recommends to improve the web browsing experience.If you are an expert at Firefox you probably won't learn much from this book, but for any new user or someone who would consider themselves an amateur, I would recommend picking this up because it's very likely that you'll pick up something new -- whether a trick you did not know about or a hot extension, it's unlikely that anyone but the most experienced of users isn't going to learn something new from this text. I found this to be an enjoyable and easy read and I think you will find it worthwhile to peruse as well.**** RECOMMENDED

Although not the first to market, it does a good job given the right audience...Contents: Introduction; Introducing Your New Favorite Web Browser; Essential Browsing Features; Revisiting Web Pages; Dressing Up Firefox; Personalizing Firefox; Tips, Tricks, and Hacks; Web Development Nirvana; Living On The Edge; IndexYeow does a nice job explaining why Firefox is a desired alternative to IE and why you should be using it. In addition to explaining all the different features in the menu, he also goes into some of the more popular browser extensions you can download and install to customize your browser experience. That's one of the huge advantages of Firefox over other browsers, and it's an area that can't be overlooked. There's also a fairly high level coverage of how the browser can aid your web development efforts based on the built-in debugging tools and the high adherence to web standards.If you already have a Firefox book, this one isn't going to add much new information for you. Also, if you're wanting to dive into all the esoteric settings with about:config, this also won't get you there. But if you haven't yet switched to Firefox, or if you've switched but haven't taken the time to explore all the power that Firefox gives you, this book would help you out quite a bit...

This is the first Firefox book I've read, so it won't have a comparison to any of the others -- as a few books hit the market soon after Firefox started nipping at Internet Explorer's market share of the browser market.Chapter 1 kicks off the book with an introduction explaining why Firefox is a first-rate browser and how to install its Windows, Mac, and Linux releases. "Essential Browsing Features," the next chapter, reviews tabbed browsing, searching, downloading, and other features.I've used Firefox prior to the v1.0 release and I've picked up a few tricks in this chapter. The tips go beyond entering keywords into the search box or changing search engines. However, I found an error -- the book says to left-click on a selected word on any Web page and run a search on the selected word - It's right-click, not left."Revisiting Web Pages" dives into bookmarks and how to get the most out of your bookmark file. The tricks explain how to quickly find a Web page that is hidden in your bookmarks somewhere, and you don't have a clue what it is called and the keywords aren't giving you what you want. Also covered are RSS feeds, Live Bookmarks, and memory tools such as using history, managing cookies, using the password manager, and clearing tracks.Many people love Firefox because it's customizable. One way to make it your own is by changing the theme (look and feel). "Dressing up Firefox" explains how to find and change themes.Another way to get what you want out of Firefox is through extensions, covered in chapter 5's "Personalizing Firefox." Yeow shows multiple ways of installing extensions and using the extension manager. The chapter works through the extensions the author recommends (he provides a good selection) and how they work.Intermediate Firefox users most likely want to jump ahead to chapter 6, "Tips, Tricks, and Hacks" and maybe chapter 7, which is for Web developers. Chapter 6 looks at about:config and how to modify preferences through its interface. Find great tips on how to mark unread tabs, shift the sidebar to the right, and disabling annoying 1996 Web site features like blink and scrolling marquee."Web Development Nirvana" highlights the tools that come with Firefox for developers and which extensions make development easier including LiveHTTHeaders, Web Developer Toolbar, and Greasemonkey. The book closes out with troubleshooting and information about browser's nightly builds.The book only has minor shortcomings. The tips and warning sidebars text is smaller than the rest of the book's contents. It might be difficult for some people to read.While it's nice that a bonus CD came with it, it's outdated (v1.0.3 and the current had already surpassed that by several minor releases. It also has Thunderbird 1.0.3 and the current version as of this review's writing is 1.5 Beta 1.). At least, it doesn't increase the book cost and gives newer users an easier start as they don't have to worry about downloading files. But the site says it's a [...] value. No CD costs that much and none of the stuff costs anything.It's a well-rounded book written in a friendly and easy going style that should get new users up-to-speed and provide experienced users with tips to maximize the Firefox browsing experience. The book helps you discover this mighty browser outside of what comes in the box or download. The companion Web site has sample chapters available [...].

Excellent guidance on doing just that is here for the taking in this book.The author says, "Among traders, intuition is a prized ideal, greatly sought after, though all too little understood." Here you will find deep wisdom about the art of intuition, that heightened sensitivity to subtle feelings or perceptions we all have but too often ignore in our rush to action. This book is about how traders may cultivate their intuition to its full potential.The book is divided into four parts. The first and last explore the relationship between intuition and trading, with many relevant quotes from experts in a variety of non-trading fields, such as athletics and self-improvement, as well as from top traders. The middle two sections are interviews with nine top traders and trading psychology experts, each describing his or her own view on how they develop and utilize intuition and related skills in trading. An excellent reading list is included at the end. I found the interview with Charles Faulkner most interesting as it contained material not found in other published interviews with this master NLP practitioner and trainer.The jacket summary overstates one aspect of the book with the statement "...extensive exercises that will how you how to enhance your trading performance." There is indeed a lot of information, detailed examples, lists and the like that one might use to enhance one's intuition, but I do not see "exercises" in the form of a workbook, so take heed to set your expectations accordingly. On another note, the range of trader styles represented in the interviews is a bit too narrow in my opinion; most are floor traders. I might prefer a broader mix of perspectives."The Intuitive Trader" by Robert Koppel is a significant contribution to the trading literature. Five stars.

This book consists largely of interviews with quacks and floor traders who are not really taking big directional bets. It has limited insights and pales in comparison to Market Wizards, Soros on Soros, or even some history of money management like Fortune's Formula. Not worth the time at all.

This is from far one of the best trading books highlighting the psychological side of trading. Many thanks to Mr. Koppel for this great great book!

Koppel's book, "The Intuitive Trader" provides excellent insights into the ways to combine left-brain (logical) and right brain (intuitive) skills to gain the competitive advantage. Koppel interviews established masters and shows how each of them rely on both the left and right sides of the brain. An excellent book for anyone in the world of professional investing.

Mark Douglas's "The Disciplined Trader" is, quite frankly, inexhaustible in explaining the many facets of the psychology of trading, and much better than Koppel's many attempts at the subject.

If you trade for a living or are serious about understanding the interplay of subjective trading experience and objective market behavior,there is no better book on the subject.Thanks Amazon.com for recmmending this title.
